Swept Away

Ants would always crawl through the bathroom of my old apartment. This perplexed me because there was no food to be had in the bathroom (uh, GROSS). Actually, it's very likely that we bathed in large Petri dish. I would unleash the shower head and spray the ants to oblivion, amused at the panic that ensued. An every-ant-for-himself brought out a survival mentality, abandoning their single-file line for a mad dash to the crack in our wall. I would of course spray this crack as if it was a 3-alarm fire, trapping the troop in their doom. Eventually, a droplet would catch each ant and end their misery. And as I lather and rinsed (never repeated), I watched their procession into the drain. Their resignation was a quick and painless death, the stillness as they were swept into the drain.

  1. haha such a dramatic/novel-like description. i remember when i was little my sisters would put a piece of candy on the carpet, wait until ants gather, and then vacuum away. i think the candy ended up attracting more ants tho...

  2. how do you know they died? i bet after they got washed down the drain they found their way home and planned another trip to your bathroom and you were washing down the same ants every time

i had ants in my bathroom every morning for about a week
    *shiver*

but after i killed every single one during that time... they stopped coming

my theory is that they're smarter than we think, even though it takes them a week of killing to get the point. bc i sure as hell didnt have sugar in that bathroom

  5. you morbid SOB, you. dude we've been having ant problems in the bathroom too! wtf is up with these buggers. what are they scheming! they're going to assume global dominion by clogging pipes. they know civilization as we know it will fall apart without toilets and showers.
